The open house starts with a reception for prospective, incoming, current, and graduated EMPA students, public administration alumni, and MPA faculty and administrators. The EMPA program, established in 2012, is a 42-credit graduate professional program and designed for public service professionals in executive, senior and upper-level management positions in the public sector and in non-profit organizations. It is an accelerated program with a cohort environment, and it features an in-class and online hybrid format offering Saturday only face-to-face classes. The U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks the FIU MPA program the best in the South Florida region, and in 2018 ranks the FIU MPA program #10 nation-wide for the specialty area of International Global Policy and Administration.
